Two first half goals from crackshot Andrew Pierce set Rhyl & District up for their best performance in two seasons as they sent runaway leaders City of Manchester crashing to only their second defeat of the season in a sparkling 5-2 victory at St Asaph.

Pierce’s double was followed by a third home goal from lively Adam Judge before the stunned pacemakers closed the deficit to 3-2 to re-open the contest.

A crucial fourth goal from man-of-the-match Chris Hardy from a short corner put Rhyl back in the driving seat and their impressive nap hand was completed by young stand-in striker Keiron Minton to seal victory.

“It was an excellent team display with Chris Hardy in particularly outstanding form,” said delighted Judge.

Rhyl now travel to Southport this Saturday aiming to rekindle their promotion challenge and move up from fifth place in the table.
