THERE was a surprise in the Rhyl Sunday five-a-side league, with leaders Afon Goch Rovers being held to a 1-1 draw by PTS.

Adam Williams was influential for PTS, as they battled to a deserved point.

Meliden Stars took full advantage of the table toppers slip, as they recorded an impressive 5-0 win over Blues and Two’s with Simon Fawcett bagging a brace.

Glen Brady and Mike Colly both smashed home hat-tricks as Inter Rhylan showed their class in an 8-2 mauling of Rhyl Madrid, Lewis Garret grabbing the consolations.

Elsewhere, Purple Gorillaz did enough to edge out The Goers, with their win by the odd goal in five putting them firmly in mid-table.

Badgers Nadgers moved to within a point of the summit of the Monday Rhyl six-a-side Premier Division. Lloyd Beattie was influential, grabbing the only goal of the game in a defeat of Rhyl Rockets.

Danny Mills slammed home a hat-trick as he guided JBS.com to a 3-1 defeat of Rhyl Army, Ben Adamson grabbing the consolation.

The top two in the First Division did battle, and neither side could be separated in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Gavin Allport bagged a brace and the man of the match award for Clueless FC, in the game against Rhyl Boys.

Odds and Sodds were the night’s biggest winners, as they took full advantage by closing on the leaders following a 6-0 humbling of The Inbetweeners. Ryan McGuiness and Phil Haywood did the damage, grabbing two goals apiece.

Things are really starting to tighten up in the Thursday Rhyl six-a-side league, with three sides being separated by a solitary point at the summit.

Anthony Colquitt was again influential for West End FC. He showed real quality in helping his side to leapfrog Meliden Stars to go top of the division, bagging two in a surprisingly comfortable 4-1 win.

Frank The Tank were able to take full advantage of the top twos face off, as Simon Mills found the back of the net and picked up the man of the match award in a 2-0 defeat of Rhyl Madrid.

1 2 Go are still looking strong challengers as Lee Donaldson finally breeched the Dyswich Rovers defence. Anthony Gunther performed heroics in the net, but he couldn’t help his side avoid slipping to a 1-0 reverse. Crown Fire piled more misery on pointless side Prestatyn Celtic, as Mike Humphries grabbed a brace in the former’s 5-2 win.
