THE winter vomiting bug that swept through a Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital is under control.

A hospital spokesman confirmed the number of patients suffering from the norovirus is now estimated at between 10 and 20, down from 79 over the Christmas period.

Seven wards were closed during the outbreak, with new patients diverted to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and Llandudno General Hospital.

The outbreak is thought to have been caused by high levels of the virus in the surrounding area.

Four wards remain closed, and each ward affected by the virus will be deep-cleaned after all patients with the virus are discharged.
