A HOUSING association is urging tenants in Rhyl and Prestatyn to take extra care with fire safety after signing an agreement with the fire service.
Clwyd Alyn Housing Association has been working closely with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service to ensure tenants and residents get advice concerning fire prevention and protection.
Deiniol Evans, director of Development and Technical Services, said: “We firmly believe that fire safety is an all-year round commitment.
“All tenants and residents will be able to book free fire-safety checks with the fire service, where an officer will make an individual house call to give advice that could save lives.”
Many tenants have already taken up the opportunity of having their fire-safety check and the service with tenants also able to book their safety check directly online through the Clwyd Alyn website.
During the check tips and advice are given, block plugs are replaced with safe multi-adapters and old chip pans are replaced for free with deep fat fryers.
Dawn Docx, deputy chief fire officer for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We are extremely pleased to be working in partnership with the Pennaf Housing Group, to help keep Clwyd Alyn tenants safe from fire in their homes.
“This agreement will allow us to use the expertise of Pennaf staff and to give North Wales Fire and Rescue Service the opportunity to give free fire safety advice and equipment to their tenants by means of a free home fire safety check. With over 5,000 homes being managed by Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, we will be able to help a high percentage of the population in North Wales and to ensure the safety of families across the region.”
