AN EVENT was held at a popular bingo venue in Rhyl last weekend to celebrate it coming under new ownership.

Apollo Rhyl, on Brighton Road, was one of eight UK venues run by independent retail bingo operator Majestic Bingo before administrators were appointed last summer.

But in December, all eight of its sites were been acquired by Real Fun Group Ltd, which aims to become a prominent player in the UK’s independent bingo sector.

To mark this, a “new ownership party” was held at the bingo hall on Saturday (April 13).

Ben Jones, a member of staff at Apollo Rhyl, hailed the event as a “massive success”, with “so much more to come”.

He added: “It's always scary when you hear about administration, but Real Fun Group coming along was such a relief.

“We all have great appreciation to our investors, managers and chief executive, as it’s saved a job we love to do"

“Administration was scary for us all, but all of the staff and management have stayed, and we’re so grateful and lucky we've come out on the other side.

“Here's to a new, exciting fresh start.”

During the event, it was confirmed that Real Fun Group is to become a sponsor of Rhyl Wings Project, a community group based in the town.

Members of Rhyl Wings Projects came along on Saturday to cut the ribbon at Apollo Rhyl.

Ben added: “We’re very happy to have joined teams with Rhyl Wings Projects.

“We’re working very closely with them, and are proud to help a great cause within our community.”
