ACCESS to a stretch of the promenade will be shut off this month to allow works to continue on the Central Rhyl Coastal Defence Scheme.
Construction of the revetment between John Street to Rhyl Events Arena is well underway.
In the coming months, work will start on the beach access ramp which will provide improved accessibility access to the beach from Rhyl High Street.
A spokesperson from Denbighshire County Council said: "To date, 313 out of the 760 revetment units have been placed, which fit like a jigsaw on the promenade. Once all installed, this will form the flood defence in this area.
"The work on the existing defences on the Eastern Section between Rhyl Events Arena and Splash Point consists of rock toe protection to the existing sea wall and is buried below the sand. The rock toe works are now 90 per cent complete and the stepped accesses to the beach will be complete by Summer.
"As of early April, the promenade access from John Street to Shack Fish and Chips will be closed and re-diverted towards East Parade Road.
"Shack Fish and Chips will remain open as usual."
This closure will be in place until construction work is completed by Autumn 2025. Signage will be in place with the clear diversion route.
The spokesperson added: "We apologise for any inconvenience that this work may cause, and thank the public for their understanding and co-operation."
The Central Rhyl Coastal Defence scheme is set to protect 500 homes and 44 other properties at risk of flooding within the next 100 years.

Chris Hull, Balfour Beatty’s Project Manager, said: “Overall, progress has been good and I’m delighted with the work being done by our brilliant team here in Rhyl.
"As we move into Spring/Summer we will continue with construction of the revetment and commence the beach access ramp which will provide improved access to the beach from Rhyl High Street.
"We pride ourselves on extremely high standards in terms of safety, quality, and accuracy."
