An Oldham woman who refused to undertake a roadside breath test in Rhyl after being stopped by police has been banned from the roads.
Leah Taylor, 41, of Bunyan Close, was issued with a disqualification from driving and a community order at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court today (April 17).
She admitted a charge of failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis during today’s hearing.
The court heard that, at 11.51pm on April 1 at Marine Holiday Park, Rhyl, Taylor was reported as being “intoxicated”, before leaving in a black Mercedes vehicle.
It was suspected that she left to purchase cigarettes, having been asking a security officer at the park for some.
Officers found the vehicle parked by the Spar shop on Marsh Road, Rhyl; Taylor was in the car, while open drinks were also spotted inside.
Taylor was described as being “loud and abusive,” and was arrested after refusing to provide a sample of her breath.
She was taken to custody in St Asaph, where she “continued to be aggressive and abusive”.
Her previous convictions included for assaulting a police officer.
Deputy District Judge Gerallt Jones, presiding over the hearing, disqualified Taylor from driving for six months.
He also ordered her to complete a 120-day electronically monitored period of alcohol abstinence, and 20 days’ rehabilitation activity requirements.
Taylor is to pay prosecution costs of £85, and a surcharge of £114.
