A ROAD in St Asaph is set to close for emergency works to replace a gas pipe in the area.

Wales & West Utilities will replace the gas pipe in the Roe Parc area, with the work essential to keep gas flowing safely to heat and power homes and businesses.

As part of the work, the gas emergency and pipeline service has liaised with Denbighshire County Council, and it has been agreed that traffic management will be in place whilst work is ongoing.

This involves:

  • A road closure at the entrance into Roe Parc, if you are driving northbound towards Rhyl from A55 junction
  • A diversion route that will be clearly signposted and will involve motorists travelling northbound towards Rhyl to the Morfa Lodge roundabout, where A547 joins the A525, then back in a southerly direction towards Roe Parc

It is anticipated that the work will be completed by the end of next week, and Wales & West Utilities has liaised with local businesses and residents to inform them of the work.

Motorists have been advised to allow extra time for travel.

Wales & West Utilities’ Adam Smith is managing this work, and said: “We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it really is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.

“We’ll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.

“While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across the St Asaph area.

“Whether it’s heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it.

“This work is essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future.”
