A TOTAL of 12 group have been given funding to host celebrations for the King's Coronation. 

This includes schools who are hosting their own events between Monday, May 1 and Monday, May 15. 

There is also a service at St Michael’s Church, Abergele, followed by a big lunch, on Sunday, May 7 at 11am.

This will include schools.

A spokesperson for Abergele Town Council said: "The town council have provided funding to 12 groups and societies in the area, including schools who are hosting their own events.

"All are welcome to the service at St Michael’s Church. The big lunch will include the local schools. All are welcome and invited to wear their coronation homemade hats.

"The mayor [cllr Alan Hunter] is also hosting a shop window competition which will be judged on the May 8."

Cllr hunter is inviting all businesses with visible public windows to enter. 

Judging will take place by the mayor and mayoress [Cheryl Hunter] on Monday, May 8. Three ceritficates will be award for first, second and thrid.

The Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6. The service will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

On Sunday, May 7, a special Coronation Concert will be staged at Windsor Castle. 

The Coronation Big Lunch, at which neighbours and communities are invited to share food and fun together across the country, will also take place on Sunday, May 7.
