A ground-breaking GP practice is to move into new premises next week.

Twelve months ago the Healthy Prestatyn Iach practice in Prestatyn was established after both the Pendyffryn and Seabank Drive practices terminated their NHS contracts.

In their place the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) broke new ground by introducing a new pattern of primary care based on a system in Alaska. Patients are now allocated to teams which include not only doctors but administrators, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

The Central Surgery in Pendyffryn Road, Prestatyn, is too small so the practice is moving into the former council offices in Ty Nant, in the centre of town. The building is being leased from Denbighshire County Council.

From June 5 all services will be transfer from the current building to Ty Nant, though the practice’s other premises in Wynn Avenue, Meliden, Rhuddlan and Ffynnongroew will remain open.
