PRESTATYN town was transformed into a fantasy kingdom over the weekend.

Thousands of visitors dressed up as Princesses and Pirates to join in the Fantasy Fun Day, which took place in the high street on Saturday.

The day, which was organised by Prestatyn Town Council, featured a pirate treasure hunt, have-a-go circus skills, temporary tattoos, face painting, live music, dancers, a photobox photo booth, crafts, an inflatable assault course, fairground rides, games and characters.

Rachael Astle, community event and town support officer at Prestatyn Town Council, said: “The sun shone and fun was had by all. There were happy faces everywhere and it was so lovely to see so many people dressed up and enjoying themselves.

“This was our second year of Prestatyn’s Fantasy Fun Day and we have already had feedback. People have said it was wonderful to see the town so alive and that they had not seen the town so packed in years.”

Buckets and spades were available to buy at the Fantasy Fun Day in preparation for Prestatyn’s Sandcastle Festival, which is being held on Sunday, August 17.

Sandcastle enthusiasts will attempt to beat a Guinness world record on the most sandcastles built in one hour.
