Parking restrictions to be relaxed at Parc Prestatyn

PARKING restrictions at a Prestatyn shopping centre are to be relaxed in the evening.

The multi-million pound retail park Parc Prestatyn opened in March last year with three hours' free parking for customers.

Now the park, which is home to Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Next, River Island, New Look, Boots, Costa Coffee and Poundland will offer unlimited free parking after 6pm in a bid to boost the town's night-time economy.

Matthew Beddow, managing agent for Parc Prestatyn, said the measure, which will be introduced on March 14, was agreed on following a request from Chris Ruane MP for Vale of Clwyd.

He said: "We are hoping this will be a benefit to the town.

"We very much feel part of the community in Prestatyn. The park is very busy during the day but there are plenty of spaces during the evening."

The three hour limit will only apply between 6am and 6pm.

Mr Ruane said: "Not having to rush back to move a car can play a huge role in encouraging people to stay for longer.

“This could see more people choosing to stay to a go for a meal in a pub or restaurant or visit the Scala or other places which are open in the evening – every bit helps."

Shoppers turned out in force for the opening of long-awaited Nant Hall Road site last year.
