AN APPLICATION for an American-style steakhouse has lodged for a derelict Rhuddlan pub.

Llandudno-based Harvey’s New York Bar and Grill has submitted plans to demolish the eye-sore Marsh Warden pub site, which has been empty for almost ten years, and replace it with a drive-thru restaurant.

Harrison Holmes, manager of the American-style steakhouse, said: “This is a good site to put forward our application as it is next to the busy roundabout.

"There isn’t really a high-end drive-thru anywhere around this area so hopefully this will be a big success.

“We have a lot of people traveling to Llandudno from the Rhyl, Prestatyn and Rhuddlan areas so it seemed sensible to come to them.”

The application was put forward by Conwy - based Cadnant Planning Ltd and they have already been in discussions with planning and highway officers.

It is estimated the move could bring in around 30 jobs and possibly more depending on its popularity .

If  the application is successful Harvey's hope to be open by the end of this summer and the restaurant, which opened in Landudno in 2012, is also looking to expand to other areas around North Wales such as Angelsey.
