CROWBAR wielding raiders fled empty handed after an attempted robbery at a Rhyl post office last night (Wednesday).

North Wales Police are appealing for witnesses after two men entered the convenience store and self-contained post office in Churton Road, at around 9.20pm.

No one was injured.

Detective Sergeant Paul Byron at St Asaph CID said: “At about 9.20pm, two men entered the Highfield Park Post Office and shop in Churton Road, armed with what is believed to be a crowbar or similar and attempted to rob the store before fleeing empty handed on foot in the direction of Y Gorlan.

"Fortunately, this appears to be an isolated incident in which no one was injured.”
Both men are described as white, approximately 5’ 7 tall and of medium build.

One was wearing a light grey coloured hooded jacket, shorts and trainers, whilst his accomplice wore a dark blue, possibly black hooded jacket with jeans and trainers.
Both had their hoods up over their heads.

DS Byron said: “I’d like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident, or knows the identity of the men involved to contact police immediately.”

Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quote reference P147744.
