Schools help boost funds for Prestatyn tragedy families

LOCAL schools in the Prestatyn area have recently raised money for the families who lost their relatives in the house fire before Christmas.

The schools, led by Bodnant Community School, raised £565 towards the fund by holding a raffle for which Hallmark Thorntons Store donated a giant Forever Friends Teddy Bear.

It was taken around Prestatyn primary schools, where tickets were sold during school fairs.

The winner was Jo Anne Barker of Gronant.

Neil Allum, co-owner of the Hallmark store, said: “The whole of our town were deeply shocked when news of the fire tragedy emerged, the victims and their families are well known to many people in the town.

“We wanted to do something to try and raise funds for the families while remembering those who were taken away by the tragedy, we are delighted that the bear raised so much, the schools should be praised for their efforts.

“It was a great moment when we contacted the winner, she told us that she would be giving the prize to the family of Emily. A premature baby born earlier in the year, it would be a very big teddy for a tiny little baby.”
