TRIBUTES have been paid to a former stadium manager of Rhyl Football Club following his recent passing.

Dave Jackson’s death was confirmed earlier this week, with the club posting on social media on January 5: “The club are saddened to hear of the recent passing of former Rhyl FC stadium manager Dave Jackson.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dave’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”

Mr Jackson was a representative of the club in its former guise, Rhyl FC, before its dissolution in April 2020 and the subsequent establishment of a phoenix club, CPD Y Rhyl 1879.

John Hughes-Jones, a member of the CPD Y Rhyl 1879 committee, paid tribute to an “incredibly modest and likeable man”.

He said: “I’ve known Dave since I first became involved with the old Rhyl FC in 2016. Dave was the stadium manager and had responsibility for stewarding and stadium safety.

“He was an incredibly modest and likeable man who took his role seriously, and dedicated many hours of his own time to ensuring all stewarding arrangements were in place for match days at Belle Vue.

“He volunteered to help the new club when it launched, but sadly his health deteriorated, and he was unable to continue in his role.

“We have had a huge emotional response from former members and supporters of the old club and as well as our current club, which is testimony to Dave’s personality and contribution.

“Our heartfelt thoughts go out to Dave’s family and friends, and he will be sorely missed by all at CPD Y Rhyl 1879, and we will be proud to pay him a tribute at our next home game.”
