HE'S BEEN named one of the nation's top slimmers, earned a suit from a clothing giant and now Ben Green can add first place in Rhyl's Colour run to his achievements.

Ben, of Rhyl, who has shed an an incredible 10 stone and four-pounds since March 2018.

Joining hundreds of runners in yellow sun glasses with packets of paint powder on a rainy Sunday afternoon for the annual 5km run on the promenade, Ben clinched the win with a time of 25 minutes and 16 seconds.

Ben, 34, said: "It was buzzing, so many excited people. Everyone was taking selfies, my rainbow wig got a lot of attention.

"I arrived a hour early in check in - it was miserable and raining to begin with. Then about 20 minutes before the start it warmed up and stopped raining

"To cross that finish line first was incredible."

Since taking up running as part of his quest to trim down from 25 stone, his transformation journey caught the eye of online clothing retailer Jacamo, who awarded him a full three piece suit from the Freddie Flintoff range in March.

In July, Ben made it through to the Slimming World man of the year 2019 Semi and National finals, earning a top ten spot in the competion which involved 40 men involved from the UK and Ireland.

Before he could begin training at Saint's Health and Fitness in Meliden with good friend Philip Roberts, he first had to lose eight stone. He has now taken to running like a duck to water, and completed a simialr 5km distance in Dublin on his birthday in August, as well as climbing Snowdon in July.

Father of two Ben added: "One of my dreams was to be a runner. I was obese for 22 years and just couldn't run when I weighed between 22 stone and 25 stone.

"Just Walking at my heaviest was a challenge, I wore ankle supports and relied on pain relief daily. My ankles seized up overnight and it would take me over 20 mins to loosen them up before I could stand up.

"To win this race, I would say its up there with my other achievements. It just goes to show what losing more than 10 stone can do."
