OVER the past two years, the Journal has been sharing photographs of the town’s landmark locations, finest buildings, and most exciting events – all captured by our Rhyl Instagram Champions.

The hunt has now started for a new group of photographers to join the Rhyl Instagram Champions, capturing and sharing everything we love about the town.

With a new focus on the people and stories that make Rhyl, the new champions will be tasked with capturing the spirit of the town across three core themes:

How we live in Rhyl: Local residents, their stories and why they love the town, alongside images of the latest housing regeneration developments across the town.

How we work in Rhyl: Businesses in Rhyl - new and old - their owners and employees, their stories and why they love working in the area.

How we play in Rhyl: The latest and greatest leisure facilities in Rhyl - new, long-standing and those undergoing regeneration - and the people that run them.

Following feedback, the range of talented amateur photographers who are eligible to become champions has been expanded. People of all ages and backgrounds are being sought, who live, work, frequently visit or have a meaningful connection to the town. You don’t need to be a professional photographer or own any expensive kit – all you need is a good eye for a great image to show that you love Rhyl.

All photography submitted by champions will include their thoughts on the subject, what caught their eye or inspired them, and the story behind the photo.

Each of our eight new chosen champions will have their best images posted onto #LoveRhyl's official Instagram page and the Rhyl Journal’s website, Facebook and Twitter channels. The best landscape image submitted each week will continue to be published in the print edition of the paper.

To apply to become an official Rhyl Instagrammer, all you need to do is send a short message marked 'Rhyl Instagram Champions' to Rhyl@creation.io by midnight on Friday, November 16. Include your name, age (you must be over 16 to enter), contact details, your connection to Rhyl and a short statement (50 to 100 words) on why you would like to join the programme. Please also include two or three examples of your best photography (as high quality JPEG files).

Successful entrants will be contacted directly to confirm their place. Entries are welcome now, and will stay open until midnight on Friday, November 16.
