A FAMILY has paid tribute to a new dad who died after being hit by a vehicle near Ruthin.

Shane Lewis, 41, worked at G Parry Home Improvements Ltd and was also a former Ysgol Brynhyfryd student.

He was married to Laura and the pair had an eight month-old son called Llewellyn.

His family, paying tribute, said: “Shane was a loving father to Llewellyn, husband to Laura, son to Peter and Delyth and brother to Katie and Heather.

“Shane was full of life and a true character. He lived for his son and wife and was the best Dad.

“He was kind, caring and full of soul. He will be with us in our hearts and memories forever and will be sorely missed.”

Mr Lewis died after being struck by a vehicle while walking along the A494 from Ruthin towards Llanbedr DC in the early hours of Sunday morning (October 14).

Sergeant Stephen Richards, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Lewis’ family and friends at this sad time. They are being supported by specially-trained Family Liaison Officers.

“We continue to appeal to anybody who may have been travelling along the A494 and who saw a man walking between 1am and 1:40am on Sunday morning. We are also asking anybody who may have been travelling along that route and who may have dash cam to also get in touch.”
