A GP practice temporarily ran out a seasonal flu vaccine.

A patient raised concerns to the Journal that Park House Surgery on Nant Hall Road, Prestatyn, had ran out of the vaccine and was telling patients to come back on October 24.

Elderly people or those in 'risk groups' are entitled to the flu jab.

Those in 'risk groups' include those aged 65 years and older, people living in a residential or nursing home, unpaid carers, pregnant women, children aged two or three and children in reception class or school years one to six and health and social care workers in adult care homes.

Dr Nitin Shori, senior partner at Park House, confirmed that the surgery now has the vaccine back in stock.

Dr Shori said: "The flu vaccine is tailor made each year in order to offer the best protection against the strains of flu that year. This occasionally means that there will be short term gaps in stock.

"We would like to reassure our patients that we have fresh supplies of the flu vaccine in stock and that we encourage them to continue attending our surgery for the vaccine as normal."

Influenza is highly contagious and can be dangerous.

The flu vaccine changes every year to fight the latest strains. Anyone who had a jab last winter will need another one this year.
