LLANELWY Athletic continue to head the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One standings after a hard-fought 4-1 victory at Rhuddlan Town Reserves.

A tight contest was turned on its head in the second period when James Burke slotted home a quick-fire brace on 46 and 64 minutes for the away side, only for Town to get back into the game immediately following the restart courtesy of a superb effort from Macauley Lewis.

The hosts threw everything at the title favourites in a bid to level matters and secure a share of the spoils, but they were undone on the break after 85 minutes when Dan Price took advantage of some extra space to double their tally.

There was still time for Athletic to rub salt into the wounds when Price secured his second of the afternoon a minute from time.

Henllan remain five points behind in second place after a 3-1 derby day triumph at Denbigh Development.

Veteran Russ Vaughan gave the hosts the lead on the half hour mark, but goals from Dan Williams, Steff Tomos and Kieran Kendrick were enough for the away side to notch their seventh win in ten league outings.

A brace from Adam Hall was the highlight of Y Glannau’s thrilling 4-3 win at nearby rivals St Asaph City Reserves, with Ben Williams (2), Callum Jones, Rhys Williams, Tom Williams (2) and Jordan Hanks all hitting the net for Betws-y-Coed as they picked up their first three points of the season thanks to a 7-1 rout over Llysfaen.
