THE annual Anglesey Show, celebrating agriculture, industry, trade and tourism, returns to Mona Showground today.

This year will be the 131st edition of the show in its current form and will be held throughout the day on both Tuesday, August 14 and Wednesday, August 15.

The event offers superbly presented animals and livestock, shopping and exhibition pavilion, equestrian events, craft exhibitors, food hall, produce exhibitions, machinery and vehicle stands as well as much more.

The phenomenally busy event is expected to attract nearly 60,000 visitors when the gates open at 8am on Tuesday.

This year’s main ring attraction will be the ‘Shetland Grand National’ which promises to be a unique and interesting spectacle for guests to enjoy.

Also new for this year is the North Wales Strongman Competition in the area, hosted by Hardcore Fitness Centre.

There will be plenty of stalls to pay a visit too as well with the likes of North Wales Police, Anglesey Council, Welsh Ambulance Service and so many more certain to set up shop on the showground.

A whole host of businesses and individuals will be on hand to provide stalls throughout the course of the two days and plenty of food and drink will also be available to guests.

Last year’s event saw more than 1,000 horses, from heavy shire horses to miniature Shetland ponies take part in various competitions.

There was also a huge variety of sheep with handlers as young as four years old showing their skills and plenty of chickens, cows, pigs, goats and so many more animals to see at the showground too.

As always, this year’s event will take place at the Mona Showground, Gwalchmai (LL65 4RW) and will include a hectic schedule of all kinds of competitions.

If the weather is as hot as it was this time last year then guests are in for a treat and are certainly sure to enjoy themselves at what will be one of Anglesey’s biggest events of the year.
