THREE colourful gardens in Prestatyn opened their gates to visitors.
Iris Dobbie, of Birch Grove, Robert and Margaret Smith, of Manor Close, and Tim and Ann Williams, of Oakhill Drive, opened their manicured and “beautifully” tailored green spaces as part of the National Open Garden Scheme.
This was the first time the gardens had opened as part of the scheme.
Mrs Dobbie said: “From all the positive feedback, numerous enquiries about planting schemes, types of plants and more, it’s safe to assume that it was a successful day.”
Mr and Mrs Smith said: “From 1pm, we had a steady flow of visitors to the garden. Visitors came from Prestatyn and as far away as Shropshire.
“Those visitors who were able to climb the steps to the top were rewarded with beautiful views of lower Prestatyn and the North Wales coast.”
Mr and Mrs Williams added: “It was very encouraging to witness the enthusiasm of the visitors and answer their many enquiries about plants and planting schemes.
“With the help of family and friends, our visitors were able to enjoy tea and cakes to the accompaniment of the atmospheric background music.”
Plants were on sale in all three gardens.
As part of the scheme, 3,700 private gardens are opening for charity.
