A GROUP of travellers who went against staff to make their way on to a supermarket car park have now left.

Caravans descended on the Asda car park, in Kinmel Bay, on Saturday at about 5.30pm.

Witnesses reported seeing staff standing in the road, in an attempt to stop the travellers gaining access, and battling to keep car park barriers down. Police were called to the scene.

Shopper David Cooper said: "I saw 10 caravans and the police were arguing with a group of travellers.

"Some shoppers didn't stop when they saw them. They quickly turned round and drove off."

One resident wrote on Facebook group Restoring Rhyl said: "It’s not fair to the staff. They should not have to do that and face that abuse."

Asda have been approached for comment.
