The civic service of cllr Win Mullen-James, the mayor of Rhyl for 2018 and 2019 has taken place at St Thomas’ Church on Russell Road.
Joining cllr Mullen James for the service were her husband, and former mayor, Alan James and Lady Elizabeth Hanmer, Lord High Sheriff of Denbighshire.
The service is significant for The Revd Andy Grimwood, the Vicar of Rhyl, as it is his final civic service in the role - where he has served since 2013 - before becoming Archdeacon of St Asaph in September.
Cllr Mullen-James said: “I am extremely honoured to have Andy as my chaplain for this civic year, he has been a great spiritual mentor to my family and I during his ministry here in Rhyl.
“He is highly regarded within the parish and beyond, and although we wish him well in his future role, we shall be extremely sorry to lose him.”
