BUSINESS owners in Prestatyn high street have bravely opened their doors to a herd of mythical beasts.

There are 12 in total and the magical creations have been devised and made by pupils from Ysgol Clawdd Offa, Ysgol y Llys, Ysgol Melyd and Ysgol Penmorfa ahead of Prestatyn Flower Show, to run on July 27 and 28.

Mythical Beasts was the theme selected for the show school’s competition.

Pauline Mylchreest, Prestatyn Flower Show organiser, said: “This year’s competition has certainly proved to be one of the most popular with both pupils and staff.

"The models exhibit the inventive and imaginative use of materials, some of which were recycled, and the obvious enjoyment experienced by the pupils as their ideas developed into their own fabulous creations.

"The judge, Pam Burne-Jones' reaction when she first saw the Mythical Beasts as a group said - This is all going to be very hard to judge."

The school placings are as follows:

Ysgol Clawdd Offa - 1st Grace Davies, 2nd Isabele McKenna and 3rd Ellie Carter

Ysgol y Llys - 1st Alfie Hulse, 2nd Dylan Hughes and 3rd Eivissa Bancroft

Ysgol Melyd - 1st Kimmi-Leigh Hughes, 2nd Nia Benson and 3rd Grace Nickson

Ysgol Penmorfa - 1st Jack Oliver Taylor, 2nd Malachi Eccles and 3rd Olivia Maddock

The first prize winners from each school were then entered into the Prestatyn Flower Show competition.

The results are:

1st - Jack Oliver Taylor, 2nd Grace Davies, 3rd Kimmi-Leigh Hughes and Highly Commended Alfie Hulse.

Pauline added: “All those who entered have received their well-deserved prizes and certificates and the show committee congratulate them on their artistic skills.”

Residents and visitors are being invited to go on a mythical beast hunt. Pick up an entry form at Bon,121 High Street, Prestatyn, complete and return it.
