FESTIVAL-goers of all ages turned out in their droves to enjoy an afternoon of live music.

Castell Beat took place on Saturday in the grounds of Ysgol y Castell, Rhuddlan.

Despite headlining act Chasing Shadows pulling out - after band member Sam Roberts underwent an emergency operation - the group still turned up to the joy of fans and performed a couple of songs.

Other artists making sure the beat was heard included Cor Y Castell, Jac Eliis Roberts, Lost Like Alice, Bethan Tomkins, Gogs, Keith Rogers, Honey Grace, The Beaumont Brothers, Tidal Wave(Finn), Jon Carney, Caz McElroy, Mista Funk & The Deadbeats, The Old Scrotes, Pete Kenway and The Ruby Blues Band.

Also among the attractions were aerial arts and 'zorbing' on the water.

The festival is organised by Ysgol y Castell PTA and supports Ysgol y Castell. Gates. Face painting was also on offer as well as glitter tattoos, hair braiding, a bouncy castle and sand art.

A bar was also present and a mobile cocktail wagon.

Zoe Gaskill, one of the organisers, said: "We had a fantastic turnout. The sun was shining, beer was flowing, food and drinks stalls were fantastic and the children loved all the activities. The community police came along to support us as they always do.

"We would like to say a big thank you to the Castell Beat team who organise the event and to everyone who made the day such a success. Also our thanks to Stages for Events and Splash Radio who broadcast live from Castell Beat.

"There has been so many positive comments about the day.

"It would happen without everyone's input. We are just waiting to see how much we have raised to help the school purchase much needed supplies and equipment."

The team are appealing for more helpers to aid with next year's event.
