EARLIER risers caught the first light of the day during a trek for charity.

The Dawn Walk for St Kentigern’s Hospice took place on Saturday, July 7.

More than 180 headed out in high spirits for the walk which took place from St Asaph Cathedral.

The event is now in its eighth year.

Lindsey Thomas, community fundraiser, said: “It was a beautiful Saturday morning.

“The army of walkers were in high spirits and took on the walk to raise vital funds from St Asaph based St Kentigern.

“There were many people with personal motivation and many simply walking to support a local good cause.

“We are extremely grateful to all the walkers, volunteers and sponsors for their generosity."

St Kentigern will be running a Twilight Trek on September 22. The walk, starting at 6.30pm, will start and finish at Bwlch Penbarras, a mountain pass in the Clwydian Range area of Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and follow the path to the summit at the jubilee tower as the sun goes down.
