A WOMAN stormed into the bar and restaurant she ran with her estranged husband and started beating him about the head.

Amanda McGeown then assaulted a staff member at Archies in Prestatyn, whom she accused of “giving her lip”.

McGeown, aged 45, of Bryntirion Drive, Prestatyn pleaded guilty at Llandudno Magistrates Court to common assault on both Kelly Bushell and James McGeown.

She was fined £600, and ordered to pay each of them £50 in compensation.

Diane Williams, prosecuting, said that on June 21, James McGeown went to work at Archies, leaving his wife at home with their two children, but at 10.30pm she turned up with the children and hit him on the head.

She then called Miss Bushell a “slut” before hitting her, the court heard.

Defence solicitor Andy Hutchinson said the couple had been together for 18 years and married for 11 years, but the relationship had deteriorated.

In March this year Mr McGeown was arrested in connection with alleged domestic violence but no charge was brought.

In a probation service report, Amanda McGeown said he controlled what she should wear and how long she should spend away from the house.

Mr Hutchinson said that on the day of the incident she was frustrated and upset and had drunk a bottle of wine.

She would now be seeking a divorce, he added.

The prosecution asked for a restraining order to prevent her approaching her husband but Mr Hutchinson said it would not work because they still ran the same business.

In addition to the fine, McGeown was made subject of a 12-month community order to include a 20-hour rehabilitation programme.
