A TWELVE hour ‘danceathon’ is being held to raise money for T? Gobaith (Hope House) children’s hospice.

The event has been inspired by five-year-old Jack Murphy from Prestatyn, who has a medical condition which requires 24-hour care, seven days a week, and goes to the hospice for respite.

The event, at The Nova in Prestatyn on Saturday, July 21, will feature modern jive, ballroom, Latin, line dancing, street dancing and hip and hop and will culminate in a ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s disco, which will be presented by The Hasbeens.

Jack’s great-aunt, Janet Newman-Carty, is organising the event and all dance leaders and DJs are giving their time free of charge in support of the charity.

said: “Jack and he is my great-nephew. He goes to Ty Gobaith for respite, which gives my niece valuable time to rejuvenate and spend some quality time with her other son.

“I was planning to attend the Dance for Life event to event to raise much needed funds for T? Gobaith (Hope House) but due to unforeseen circumstances, he cancelled all of his gig so... I thought, why not do it ourselves.

“The Nova have kindly provided the venue free of charge.”

The plan for the day is as follows: 12pm until 2pm - modern jive with strictly PJ Dance; 2pm until 4pm tea dance with Brian and Angela Mills; 4pm until 6pm line dancing with Margaret Gough; 6pm until 8pm street and hip hop (all levels) with Unit Dance Association and 8pm until midnight - disco with the Hasbeens.

Entry is £5. Telephone Janet on 07443 421120 for more information for a sponsor form or visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/hopehousedanceathon
