Nursery staff have been enjoying to a motivational session with a stand-up comic and 'happiness guru'.

Shonette Bason Wood administered ‘The Happiness Injection’ to employees of Little Lambs Nursery on St Asaph Avenue in Kinmel Bay on Monday as part of her mission to inspire school and nursery staff.

Bason Wood is joined by comedy partner Hywel Roberts in the venture, which involves a series self-help strategies infused with stand-up comedy.

Sam Matlan Price, of Little Lambs Nursery: “It was totally amazing and practically perfect in every way.

"Shonette is the new and modern Mary Poppins of childcare and education!”

She added: “We cannot wait to start playing our personal 'anthems' in nursery tomorrow and pass on kindness and share our happiness with everyone.

“We already relished Shonette’s happiness philosophy before the event, and we have already seen the benefits it has made – and how it has improved our practices within Little Lambs.

"This 'comedy injection' was all about the fun element of working with children and how to enjoy what you do, whatever it may be.”

Bason Wood, 46, started her working life as a primary school teacher before touring schools in deprived areas to coach teachers in neurological-based methods of working with pupils.

She also hosts a 'Happiness Injection' podcast, discussing positive education practices and the importance of joy in the classroom.

Bason Wood said: “It’s my mission to start an education revolution, beginning with those in charge of teaching our children.

“The Happiness Injection event went really well because we woke people up to the fact that having happiness in their lives is actually an easy choice."

She added: "It’s easy to hate Mondays and love Fridays, but we want to encourage people to love every day.

"Each person that attended left buzzing on real happiness and we tasked them to go out into the community and spread it.

“I bet many of them went on to spend their evenings dancing around the tea table, singing in the bath and most of all, spreading the happiness tips they had learnt with others.

“The majority of tonight’s audience work with children, so imagine the ripple effect that those staff will have when they go to work.

“Watch out North Wales – the happiness ripple has started.”
