A DANCE troupe has excitedly flown out to Barcelona to compete in a world cup event.

A total of 23 girls from the North Wales School of Dancing, based in Rhyl, were selected last December to represent Wales in the Dance World Cup in Spain, running from Friday (June 22) to Saturday, June 30.

The girls spent months tirelessly fundraising to get themselves over to the competition.

Support was received from sponsors at businesses in Rhyl, Denbigh, Prestatyn, Abergele, Llandudno, Conwy and Liverpool.

Lisa Messham, principal at North Wales School of Dancing, said: "We’re all very excited and amazingly grateful for this opportunity, and are simply overwhelmed at the brilliance of support from everyone in our local community.

"The girls have been rehearing hard and will do their best against over 5000 other dancer from 47 Countries around the World."

The live coverage of the competition can be watched through the Dance World Cup website. Visit www.dwcworld.com

Supporters will be joining the dancing troupe at their summer extravaganza shows on the July 13 and 14 at the Rhyl Pavilion Theatre.
