A drifting boat has been saved from running aground in Rhyl harbour.
The UK Coastguard at Holyhead requested the launch of Rhyl's Volunteer Inshore Lifeboat crew late last night (Monday), after a report from North Wales Police of a boat adrift heading downstream.
The Rhyl inshore lifeboat, the Mary Maxwell, launched at about 11:30 pm and proceeded to the harbour, where the crew found the boat already at the rocks below The Range superstore, at the Marina Quay retail park.
A crew member was put ashore to assess the boat and check for any damage, whilst the crew on the inshore boat set up a tow line.
The crew worked quickly, as the tide dropped, to remove the boat from the rocks and tow it back to the harbour pontoons to the awaiting owner of the boat and Rhyl Coastguard Team.
Andrew Wilde, deputy coxswain, said: "Although there was no one in danger, the crew were happy to help recover the boat for the owner who through no fault of their own nearly lost their vessel on the rocks at Rhyl."
