A Rhyl man has been jailed after being caught shoplifting the day after receiving a suspended sentence.
Simon Ferguson was spotted walking out of the Tesco store in Abergele on June 9 without paying for 49 pounds worth of whisky and baby powder. When searched he was found to have magnets which could be used to remove security tags from items.
Ferguson, of Meredith Crescent, pleaded guilty at Llandudno magistrates’ court to theft and to going equipped to steal.
The court heard that on June 8 Ferguson was given a six-week prison sentence, suspended for six months.
The magistrates activated that sentence and added eight-week sentences for the latest offences, making a total of 14 weeks to be served.
Chairman David Subbachi told him: “You have shown a blatant disregard for the order of the court.”
