A FURTHER warning of heavy rain is set to come into force later today.

A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office. Thunderstorms have been forecasted, which are likely to affect northern and western parts.

The warning is in force until 10pm tonight.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop during Friday, particularly during the afternoon and then easing only slowly through the evening.

"As often in such situations, many places will miss the worst of the heavy showers and thunderstorms, but where they do occur they are likely to bring torrential rain with the potential for 20 to 30 mm of rain to fall in an hour and perhaps as much as 40 to 60 mm in three hours in a few locations. Lightning and large hail are also possible."

Local authorities affected include Conwy, Gwynedd, Denbighshire, Wrexham, Powys, Flintshire and Isle of Anglesey.
