An electrician has denied being involved in the ferrying of heroin and crack cocaine into Rhyl.

Defendant Ian Hamilton is charged that on April 11 last year that he was concerned in the supply of both class A drugs.

It follows an incident when his van was stopped by police on the A55 in the vicinity of Northop in Flintshire.

The prosecution alleged that drugs, knives and three younger passengers were inside the vehicle.

Hamilton, 48, of Pensby Road, Thingwall, Birkenhead, had previously pleaded not guilty to possessing a knife and today denied the drugs offences.

An application to dismiss the drugs charges before trial was rejected by Judge Rhys Rowlands.

His trial will be held in July.

He was bailed in the meantime.
