A manhunt has taken place in Rhyl following an act of arson.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to the Pavilion Theatre carpark, on the East Parade, at about 8pm last night (Sunday) to a deliberate car fire.

North Wales Police were called to the scene shortly after, pursuing the suspect with a team, which included a police helicopter.

The fire was successfully put out less than 15 minutes after fire crews from Rhyl arrived.

A North Wales Fire spokesperson said: "We were called to a vehicle fire on the East Parade at 7.59 pm, it was thought to be started deliberately.

"One crew from Rhyl was in attendance, the fire was out by 8.13pm."

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 8.03pm to an incident involving a 4 x 4 on fire in the carpark of the Rhyl Pavilion.

"The incident is being treated as arson.

"There was a search of the area for the suspect involving a police helicopter, and the suspect is still at large. The investigation is ongoing."
