ONE of the great British squeezebox virtuosos is returning to showcase the cutting edge of experimental folk.

Andy Cutting is bringing his melodeon back to Folk at the Hall in Gwaenysgor.

A three-time winner of the Folk Musician of the Year accolade at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Cutting has amassed a fantastic record of collaborations, including with singer-songwriter Chris Wood, with guitarist Martin Simpson, as part of Kate Rusby’s band, and a pivotal role in traditional dance band Blowzabella.

However, it is solo with his squeezebox where the artist’s dazzling range truly shines, blending sturdy dance tunes to more experimental, jazz-edged work. Cutting’s jaunty instrumentals unequivocally state the case for the melodeon’s future in modern English folk.

Join Cutting and his magical melodeon at Gwaenysgor Village Hall at 7pm on Friday, June 1.

Tickets are £10, plus booking fee, and are available from eventbrite.co.uk.
