A TRADITIONAL Whit walk is being revived for the second year running between Pensarn and Rhos on Sea.
The Aled Mission in the Diocese of St Asaph has arranged the walk for Saturday May 19. It will start at 11.00am at Pensarn beach near the railway station and end at St Trillo’s Chapel, Rhos on Sea. The Bishop of St Asaph, the Rt Revd Gregory Cameron, will take a service at the end of the eight mile long trek.
It will include a break for a picnic lunch at the old lifeboat house at Llandulais.
Rev Canon D Quentin Bellamy said: “We decided we would revive the tradition, and last year approaching 100 people took part, we are hoping more will join this year. We’ve called it Rekindling the Flame."
Whit walks date back to 1821 when there was a procession of the children of Manchester to commemorate the coronation of George IV. Children of all denominations walked in procession from their schools and assembled at Ardwick Green to sing God Save the King.
