Leading cat welfare charity, Cats Protection, is opening its first shop in Rhyl, at 10am, on Friday and is in desperate need of cat-loving volunteers.

Shop assistants are needed to help serve customers and organise stock, while Flair for Fashion volunteers are needed to help identify, price and sort seasonal clothes from donated stock and to help create eye-catching displays.

A variety of items will be available from the shop, located at 5 Bedford Street, including second-hand clothes, fantastic footwear, accessories, household goods, books and media, bric-a-brac and cat-related products.

Jane Dutton, Cats Protection’s area retail manager for the North West, said: “We are so excited to be welcoming cat-loving shoppers to our new shop in Rhyl.

“We’re also keen to meet cat lovers who would like to volunteer at the shop. Although experience in a retail environment would be helpful, it’s certainly not required as we will provide plenty of help and support materials.

“By sparing just a few hours a week it can make a huge difference to needy cats. It’s also a great way to make new friends – both human and feline!”

Cat-loving shoppers can attend an exclusive preview evening between 1pm and 6pm on Thursday, April 19.

Normal shop opening hours will be between 9am to 5pm on Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. Donations will be gratefully received and can be dropped off between these times.

The shop will generate funds to support the charity’s work helping around 190,000 cats a year through a national network of 34 centres and over 250 voluntary-run branches.
