A RHOS-ON-SEA girl has described a recent ordeal in Sri Lanka as a dream come true and a nightmare at the same time.

Helena Hanson and her partner Amos Hall have been through an emotional rollercoaster over the past few months since stumbling across four tiny puppies on the side of the road while travelling in Sri Lanka.

The Welsh pair, with the help of a Sr Lankan dog shelter, have nursed the puppies, named the Teletubbies - Tinky Winky, Dipsy, La La and Po - back to health after finding them weak, cold, hungry and exhausted on the side of the road.

They had been left there by their owner and were forced to survive a Mongoose attack and sadly one of the four, La La, even passed away - too weak from the ordeal.

Having become so attached to the dogs, Helena and Amos now want to bring them back to Wales. They have created a Go Fun Me page (https://www.gofundme.com/help-us-bring-the-teletubbies-home) to try and raise enough money to get them the vaccinations, blood tests and anything else needed to get them into the county.

Helena said: “We love these dogs, we can’t leave them.

“It was always my dream that one day I would find a dog, or a dog would find me. So this is like a dream come true, but a nightmare at the same time because we have no home to take them back to at the moment.”

The pair have been travelling for more than two years and are currently in Australia saving money to pay to get the dogs back to Wales.

Amos said” “We don’t know exactly how much it will cost but we are aiming to raise about £4500. We know that is quite a lot so we are hoping to fundraise about £3000 and pay the rest ourselves.

“We have already raised about £1200 in the past two weeks through the page, so the support has been really really good.”

He said they will have no problem in re-homing the dogs when they get back to Wales with friends and families already cuing up to give these cute puppies a loving home.

Helena has done work at animal shelters in the UK in the past and her and Amos has been set to work at one in Sri Lanka before they found the puppies. It was by coincidence the shelter currently housing the puppies is the same one they were due to work in.
