THE latest phase of refurbishment works at Ysgol Glan Clwyd in St Asaph has been handed back to the school.

In the coming weeks, demolition of the school’s old three-storey building will commence; an event will be held to mark this milestone.

The next phase of the refurbishment works are due to be handed over to the Welsh medium high school in time for the new academic year in September.

A spokesman for Denbighshire County Council, which is funding the project jointly with the Welsh Government through its 21st Century Schools and Education Capital Programme, said: “Since the turn of the year the contractors, Willmott Dixon, have been undertaking refurbishment works to the existing school buildings. This forms phase two of the project following the completion of the new extension in December 2016.

”There has been great progress made in recent weeks with the newly refurbished classrooms and the new link corridor to the new extension handed over.”

The project is expected to be completed during the autumn term.
