A Rhyl shopkeeper died from a stab to the neck, it was revealed at the opening of an inquest.

Two teenage boys have been charged with the murder of Amarjeet Singh-Bhakar, who died after an incident in Prince Edward Avenue, Rhyl, in the early hours of April 30.

They appeared at Old Crown Court last week and their trial is expected to take place in October.

At a brief hearing in Ruthin, John Gittins, coroner for North Wales East and Central, said Home Office pathologist Dr John Metcalfe, who carried out the post-mortem examination in Liverpool, had given the provisional cause of death as a stab wound to the neck.

Mr Gittins said he had given consent for a second post-mortem examination to be held, and so adjourned the inquest to a date to be fixed.

Mr Singh-Bhakar, aged 37, of Kingsway, Manchester, owned a clothes shop in Rhyl’s White Rose Centre, where floral tributes have been left.
