TWO retired women are planning to walk 500 miles to raise money for charity.
Val Walker and Gail Birch, of Abergele, will be making the French Way pilgrimage from St Jean Pied de Port in South West France to Santiago de Compostela in North West Spain to raise money for MSF (Medecins Sans Frontières) UK and Smile Train, an international children’s charity that provides cleft repair surgery in developing countries.
Val said: “We’re not young – so there’s a risk that, apart from all the small injuries we’ll accrue, we might do ourselves some permanent damage!
“Some will argue that we must already be quite damaged to even attempt it, but we’re going to do it anyway!”
The friends have so far managed to raise £1,428.69 through their Virgin Giving page.
