PRESTATYN Town maintained their six-point lead at the Huws Gray Alliance summit with a 3-1 win over Holyhead Hotspur at the Motion Finance Stadium. Neil Gibson’s high-flyers remain unbeaten in the league after another fine display, and the Seasiders’ will look to take another step towards the Welsh Premier League when they host title rivals Flint Town United on Saturday (2.30pm). The home side started strongly and missed a host of chances early on, with James Stead, Jordan Davies and Michael Parker all going close to opening the scoring. Town finally managed to break the deadlock on 16 minutes’ courtesy of top scorer Davies, who continued his relentless form in-front of goal with a powerful finish. Damien Ketley rattled the crossbar soon after as the hosts looked to extend their lead, while Stead narrowly fired a free-kick wide midway through the half. Their persistence finally paid off on 26 minutes when Davies took his tally to 18 league goals for the season when he converted from the spot after in-form forward Jack Kenny was felled in the box. Kenny, who scored six in last weekend’s 10-2 rout of Mold Alexandra, almost got in on the act just before the break but his goalbound strike was blocked by a visiting defender. The same pattern of play continued after the interval, with Stead, Kenny and Ketley all spurning chances to add a third, while at the other end Jay Gibbs and Asa Thomas both failed to find the net with good opportunities. Another three points were sealed a minute from time when Noah Edwards found the net, and despite a stoppage time consolation from Thomas Gibson’s side held on for another convincing victory – their 11th in 13 games in what has been a memorable campaign to date.
