PRESTATYN Town extended their lead at the Huws Gray Alliance summit with a 2-0 win at Gresford Athletic.In what has been a turbulent week for the Seasiders off-the-pitch, Neil Gibson’s side remain focused on achieving their goals on it, and they will look to continue their fine recent form when they travel to Hawarden Rangers in the JD Welsh Cup (2pm).The visitors began the game on the front foot and they were rewarded for their impressive start when James Stead fired home following a period of sustained pressure.Things got event better for the away side soon after when Athletic were reduced to ten men, and it was Town legend Jonathan Hill-Dunt who was giving his marching orders following a reckless challenge.The stopper, who was a key component of the club’s Welsh Cup triumph in 2013, was shown a straight red and Gibson’s side took full advantage when top scorer Jordan Davies continued his ruthless form in-front of goal with a neat finish after the break on 57 minutes, taking his tally to 15 league goals for the season.The league leaders dominated possession for long periods thereafter but were unable to add any further goals but saw out the remainder of the contest in comfortable fashion.Town’s result was made even better with the news that title rivals Caernarfon Town suffered a shock 4-2 home defeat to Llanfair United, moving them three points clear of the reigning champions with a game in hand.
