PRESTATYN Town continued their perfect start to the Huws Gray Alliance season with a 2-1 win over Llanfair United at the Motion Finance Stadium.

The Seasiders made it six wins from their opening six contests with a hard fought victory, a result that leaves them five points clear at the top ahead of their trip to struggling Mold Alexandra on Wednesday. Neil Gibson’s side began the game in positive fashion and were unfortunate not to take the lead early on when top scorer Jordan Davies fired wide. They finally got their reward on 33 minutes when Jack Lewis, who recently re-joined the club after a stint in Australia, headed home a Davies corner on 33 minutes. United, who did the double over the promotion favourites last season, came out after the break with a renewed sense of purpose and levelled proceedings on 56 minutes when a Joe Vaughan effort from 20 yards gave home custodian Carl Jones. Both sides missed chances thereafter in what was an open contest throughout, but the hosts crucially got their noses in-front once again on 78 minutes when a period of sustained pressure resulted in Ben Maher finding the net from the edge of the penalty area. This proved to be enough to settle the tie as Gibson’s side held on comfortably to maintain their 100 per cent league record. In addition to Wednesday’s contest, Town are also in action this Saturday when they travel to Caersws looking for a seventh win in succession.
