JADE Jones is a double Olympic champion.
The Taekwondo ace from Flint fulfilled her dream by defending her Olympic title and winning gold for a second time early today.
The 23-year-old is Britain’s first ever double taekwondo Olympic gold medalist after winning the women's under-57kg final at the Rio 2016 Olympic games.
Dubbed the Welsh Warrior and the Fighter from Flint, she took on Spain’s Eva Calvo Gómez in three rounds at just after 2am and emerged as 15-7 winner.
She described her victory as “unbelievable” and thanked her “psycho” coach Paul Green and all her supporters, including family and friends in Flintshire - a number of whom had travelled to Brazil to support her.
Jade said the Great Britain team members had all trained hard and she had “pulled it off”, despite all the pressure and tension she had been feeling
She took on a much taller Spanish opponent in three, two-minute rounds. She was 6-0 up at the end of the frist round, but the Spaniard managed to pull back to 7-6 in round two before Jade stretched out her victory to 15-7 in the final round.
