THE NATIONAL Dance Company Wales presents a vibrant and exciting repertoire of dance this weekend at Venue Cymru.
A three piece performance will take place this Friday, February 12 including Folk, by the company’s new artistic director, Caroline Finn. Folk will feature Finn’s darkly comic expressions of life and people using her quirky and highly engaging choreographic style as well as exploring themes of social dynamics; familiar and surreal scenes and characters come alive to an eclectic and enchanting musical landscape.
Also featured is Alexander Ekman’s Tuplet, a witty and high octane exploration of the simple notion of rhythm. The dancers’ breath and bodies create a powerful drumming soundtrack, combined with pounding electronic accompaniment, as well as the familiar and evocative jazz sounds of Fly me to the Moon. This fierce physicality combines with joyful, carefree dance that really shows off the personality and virtuosity of the dancers.
Lastly the performance will include Jereon Verbruggen’s A Mighty Wind. This high energy, vibrant piece captures the intensity of nature’s elements during a storm, set against the power generated by an alternative rock music concert.
There is still time to get tickets for this performance. For more information or to book tickets visit online at www.venuecymru.co.uk or call the Box Office on 01492872000.
