LLANDUDNO golfer Amy Boulden’s quest to become the European Tour Rookie of the Year will go down to the wire.

The 21-year-old lies just one shot ahead of England’s Sally Watson, her nearest rival for the crown, after carding a three-under-par 69 in her third round at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, leaving her jouint 26th overall.

Watson, who was just €8,000 behind the Conwy Golf Club member heading into the season finale, carded a four-under score of 68 to ensure a nailbiting final round for the two.

Despite bogeying the first hole, Boulden recovered brilliantly to make six birdies throughout the round, although further bogeys at seven and nine hampered her progress.

Ahead of Boulden is fellow North Wales golfer Becky Brewerton, of Abergele, who remains in joint 10th position on five under through 11 holes at the time of writing.

Leading the way after three rounds is China's Shanshang Feng, who holds a commanding six shot lead on 14-under-par after just eight holes of her third round.
